A series of workshops from now through the fall in northwest Iowa aim to help livestock producers develop manure management plans.
Iowa State University Extension agricultural engineer Kris Kohl is coordinating the 29 workshops in 17 counties. All workshops run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Manure plans will be developed based on the Iowa Department of Natural Resources requirements for annual submissions. Producers should bring with them: aerial photographs from their county Farm Service Agency office, plat maps, written manure agreements and conservation plans for highly erodible land.
The workshop fee is $25, including lunch and all necessary manure plat forms.
Producers do not have to attend a workshop in their own county if another would better fit their schedule, says Kohl. But they need to call the host county to reserve space because seating is limited to 20 people.
