USDA Completes Five Pork Board Appointments

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced five appointments to the 15-member National Pork Board, chosen from among eight pork producers nominated by the National Pork Board Delegate Body during its annual meeting in Dallas, TX, in March.

The newly appointed board members are:

  • Bradley S. Greenway, Mitchell, SD;
  • Dale N. Norton, Bronson, MI; and
  • Lisa D. Colby, Newbury, MA.
The reappointed board members are:
  • Eugene C. Nemechek, DVM, Springdale, AR; and
  • W. Randall Brown, Nevada, OH.

The board develops budgets and awards contracts to carry out a coordinated program designed to strengthen pork’s position in the marketplace. USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service oversees the operation of the board.

The mandatory Pork Checkoff program is funded by an assessment of 0.40% of the market value of all hogs sold in the United States and an equivalent amount on imported hogs, pork and pork products.
