World Pork Expo Offers Many Varied Events

World Pork Expo, the world’s largest pork-specific trade show, offers many reasons to attend including the newest technologies, outstanding breeding stock and educational seminars to name a few.

The show is targeted for June 8-10, 2011 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, IA.

“Not only is World Pork Expo a must-see for swine-industry enthusiasts, but it also is one of the premier events in Iowa,” says Doug Fricke, World Pork Expo show manager. “Hotel rooms already are going fast, so making travel plans early means you won’t miss out on the chance to stay at one of the official World Pork Expo hotels.”

Each year, nearly 20,000 producers and industry professionals attend Expo.

Among the attractions are business seminars on profitability, animal health and current issues. Attendees can see the newest products, services and technologies offered by the more than 450 commercial exhibitors.

There will be opportunities to watch junior showmen and swine breeders exhibit some of the best market hogs and breeding animals available compete for top prizes.
And throughout the event, attendees can feast on great food and enjoy family entertainment.

The Expo trade show is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, and Thursday, June 9, as well as from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 10. The breeding stock sales will continue on Saturday, June 11, from 8 a.m. until they are completed at approximately noon.

Once again, MusicFest will entertain show participants from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 9. Expo attendees can enjoy roasted pork and refreshments while listening to music performed by live bands.

Several pre-Expo tours are planned to allow producers from around the world an opportunity to experience Midwestern agriculture – and hospitality – at its finest. By popular demand, the June 6-7 tour will feature a stop at Cinnamon Ridge farms in eastern Iowa.
