World Pork Expo '16 nearing

World Pork Expo, the world’s largest pork production-focused event in the world, is nearly set to go at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines June 8-10. Brought to you by the National Pork Producers Council, last year’s version welcomed 23,085 attendees from 48 countries to the three-day exposition, including more than 1,100 international guests.

You can register online at  by June 2 to receive a $10 discount per adult. General admission rates for $20 per adult at the gate, or $10 online; youth ages 6-11 get in for $1 is registered online or $3 at the date, and children 5 and under are admitted free. There is a special $10 admission at the gate for Friday-only attendance.

Hogs strut their stuff
In addition to displays of hog equipment and services, large number of hogs will be on display during the World Pork Expo Junior National shows. And there is more to it than simply walking a hog around a ring in front of a judge.

Between June 6-11, there will be opportunity for youth exhibitors and adults to get Pork Quality Assurance Plus certification, there will be a stock show U Clinic, a skillathon and judging contests, in addition to the various hog shows.
