Iowa Pork Congress is Only a Week Away

The Iowa Pork Congress is set to start next Tuesday, Jan. 22, with the group’s annual meeting and kickoff reception and auction that evening.

The Iowa Pork Congress trade show and seminars run Jan. 23 and 24 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, IA. Register by going to www.iowaporkcongress.org.

Morning seminars on Jan. 23 cover Iowa environmental regulations and a nuisance case update presented by Des Moines attorney Eldon McAfee of Beving, Swanson & Forrest, PC; animal health issues with Cameron Schmitt, DVM, Pipestone Veterinary Clinic of Iowa and James McKean, DVM, Iowa State University; and a panel discussion looking at sow housing decisions.

Afternoon seminars deal with global economics and an economic outlook, followed by the Iowa Pork Congress reception and banquet.

Seminars on Jan. 24 address pit foam issues with Charles Clanton of the University of Minnesota and Steve Hoff of Iowa State University; swine reproduction with Billy Flowers of North Carolina State University and Jason Ross of Iowa State University; Washington, DC policy update with Dallas Hockman of the National Pork Producers Council; and feed management and records for niche markets with Matt Swantek and David Stender of Iowa State University
