Frozen Pork Supplies up from July

Frozen pork supplies on Aug. 31 were up 2% from the previous month but down slightly from last year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Cold Storage report released Sept. 22. Stocks of pork bellies were down 29% from last month but up 136% from last year.

Total red meat supplies in freezers were down slightly from the previous month and down 7% from last year. Total pounds of beef in freezers were down 6% from the previous month and down 20% from last year.

Total frozen poultry supplies on Aug. 31 were up 1% from the previous month but down 14% from a year ago. Total stocks of chicken were up slightly from the previous month but down 13% from last year. Total pounds of turkey in freezers were up 1% from last month but down 15% from Aug. 31, 2013.

Total natural cheese stocks in refrigerated warehouses on Aug. 31 were down slightly from the previous month and down 4% from Aug. 31, 2013.

Butter stocks were down 3% from last month and down 37% from a year ago.

Total frozen fruit stocks were up 12% from last month but down 2% from a year ago. Total frozen vegetable stocks were up 20% from last month and up 7% from a year ago.
