North Carolina Appoints Animal Science Head

M. Todd See has been named to head the Animal Science Department at North Carolina State University’s (NCSU) College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
See has been a professor in the department since 2004, and has served as interim department head since July 2008.
See joined the NCSU faculty in 1992, following completion of his doctorate in animal science at the University of Georgia, where he also earned his master’s degree. He earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Michigan State University.
In his role in swine extension, See has focused on swine genetics and production management. He has served as the swine commodity coordinator for the Animal Science Department since 1988. In this role, he is responsible for developing and facilitating extension programs for extension agents, agribusiness representatives and producers in North Carolina and around the world.
See currently serves as the liaison between NCSU and numerous swine commodity groups.
The prolific extension educator has produced 66 peer-reviewed publications and more than 450 technical publications from conferences and workshops. He also has secured $2 million in funding for his educational programs.
See’s awards include North Carolina State’s Academy of Outstanding Faculty Engaged in Extension and the Outstanding Extension Service Award; the Lois G. Britt Service Award to the North Carolina Pork Industry, the National Swine Improvement Federation Distinguished Service Award and the National Pork Board Fellowship.
