As the number of African swine fever cases continues to arise, James Allen Insurance has launched a new policy to protect U.S. pork producers if the disease should make its way into the country. The ASF policy as well as a new foot and mouth disease policy are available as a package or exclusively.
This week at the Allen D. Leman Swine Conference, Andy Vance, account director with the Farm Progress Livestock group, had the opportunity to get more information on these polices from Chris Moore, who represents James Allen Insurance and ONI Risk Partners.
The company says it's worked with reinsurance partners in European countries and with many syndicates at Lloyds of London to design an innovative program that provides comprehensive coverage at a very reasonable cost.
Earlier this year, JAI was the first company to offer coverage for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome and porcine epidemic diarrhea.
