USDA to host third North American African Swine Fever Forum

Key discussions include a United States Protection Zone and producer led preparedness initiatives.

USDA will host its third North American African Swine Fever Forum Aug. 29 to 31 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The first day of the forum will have in-person and virtual sessions and include participants from the United States, Canada and Mexico as well as representatives from the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, and international organizations.

Days two and three of the forum will be a trilateral discussion amongst government and industry participants from the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Key discussions for this year's forum include:

  • Process and factors considered in regionalization evaluation

  • United States Protection Zone

  • Preparedness for depopulation and disposal

  • Surveillance and laboratory capacity preparedness

  • Traceability and information management during an outbreak

  • Feral swine response and challenges in face of ASF outbreak

  • Producer led preparedness initiatives
