Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI) has announced a call for research proposals for its annual Advancement in PRRS Research Award. BIVI is awarding a total of $75,000 in an effort to control the impact of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS). Proposal submissions are due Jan. 1, 2012.

BIVI is providing three, $25,000 awards to researchers with the winning proposals to conduct a year-long study that will further the field applicable knowledge about PRRS.

PRRS education and research has increased over the past decade, but more remains to be learned about controlling the disease.

The Advancement in PRRS Research Awards will be presented in March 2012 at the American Association of Swine Veterinarians Annual Meeting to be held in Denver, CO.
