The Maschhoffs recently welcomed two veterinary interns as part of its summer internship program.
Each year the company's health team hosts one to two veterinary students, to give them the opportunity to see how a health team works within a production system.
“With the help of pharmaceutical company sponsors (Zoetis and Merck), each student completes a health related research project,” says Amy Maschhoff, associate director of Health. “This year, both of their projects are aimed to create better understanding around Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae control and elimination efforts. At the end of the summer, they will each submit an abstract of their findings to American Association of Swine Veterinarians. Most importantly, we want our student to gain knowledge and technical skills that will help them be successful in their future careers. “
