Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc., a global leader in the animal health industry, today announced that Steve Tousignant, DVM, PhD, joins the company as a professional services veterinarian with the swine team. He will cover the Upper Midwestern region of the United States.

Tousignant is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, receiving a B.S. in veterinary sciences in 2009, a DVM degree in 2011 and a doctorate in epidemiology and population medicine in 2015. Prior to joining BIVI, Tousignant spent three years as associate veterinarian and director of research at the Swine Center, P.A. in St. Peter, Minn.

“Dr. Tousignant’s background as a research scientist as well as an industry consultant brings a valuable perspective to our team,” says Katherine Christmas, DVM, director swine professional services at BIVI. “He has conducted studies for leading swine industry associations as well as served as a consulting veterinarian for production companies in the Upper Midwest. This experience will benefit his clients in his new role with the swine team.”

Tousignant, his wife, Heidi, and their 3-year-old son, Colton, live in Jordan, Minn., where they enjoy outdoor activities including skiing, camping and bird hunting with their dog, Penny.

“I look forward to bringing my passion for science to the BIVI swine team to help identify strengths in the product line that set our brands apart in a highly competitive marketplace,” Tousignant says. “I am also eager to help bring data-driven solutions to our customers to help them better achieve the optimal health of their pigs and to further the production potential of their businesses.”
