Industry Urges Improved Russian Trade Relations
A diverse business coalition of 150 U.S. companies and associations are urging Congress to pass legislation that would improve access to Russia’s growing market. Russia is expected to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) this summer.
In a letter to Congress, the coalition stated, “Without permanent normal trade relations (PNTR), U.S. companies and their employees will be left behind our competitors in this growing and profitable market.”
Agricultural groups signing the letter included the American Farm Bureau Federation, American Feed Industry Association, American Soybean Association, Cargill, Corn Refiners Association, Deere & Company, Hormel Foods, Kraft Foods, National Barley Growers Association, National Chicken Council, National Corn Growers Association, National Oilseed Processors Association and National Turkey Federation.
