House members urged to adopt Meatless Mondays

Congressman Tony Cardenas (D-CA) is urging House members and their staffs to observe Meatless Mondays. In a “Dear Colleague” letter, he offered animal welfare, environmental impact and health arguments in support of his suggestion. The letter also cited the December 2014 draft by the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, which urges a greater shift toward more plant-based foods.
