The Senate Agriculture Committee finished its final hearing on the 2012 farm bill last Thursday, where the focus was on risk management and commodity programs.

The House Agriculture Committee will continue its farm bill field hearings, the next scheduled for March 23 in Galesburg, IL.  Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI), chairman of the House Budget Committee, will release his proposed fiscal year 2013 budget later this week.

The agricultural community is waiting to see what his proposed level of cuts will be for agriculture.
