AP opens PVC extrusion facility
May 4, 2018
GSI’s AP (Automated Production Systems) brand recently opened a high-tech extrusion facility to manufacture PVC products used in pork production. The 40,000 square-foot operation is located adjacent to AP’s existing manufacturing plant in Taylorville, Ill.
Products include PVC planking for actuated ventilation applications, wall panels, animal confinement fencing, evaporative cooling system components, and Flex-Flo tubing and elbows for feed systems. The facility houses five extrusion production lines operating 24 hours a day, five or seven days a week, depending on demand.
Previously, PVC products were produced at GSI’s headquarters plant in Assumption, Ill. Brian Rieck, AP product manager, says relocating that production in Taylorville is not only more efficient, but also enabled AP to incorporate the latest PVC production technologies.
“Our new extrusion facility is state-of-the-art in terms of automation and quality control,” he says. “It will ensure we can meet the needs of pork producers well into the future and continue to provide high-quality, reliable products to support the success of their operations.”
To promote sustainability and efficiency, the new facility includes environmental controls to reduce and eliminate waste, in-line processing to eliminate multi-stage operations and new tooling designs to reduce start-up times and material.
AP offers a full-line of feed storage and delivery, watering, ventilation, environmental controls and alarm systems. For more information, producers can contact their local AP dealer or visit AutomatedProduction.com.
