Here’s a brief description of the 113th Congress: Democrats will control the Senate 55-45, having increased their hold by two seats. Twelve new senators were elected; 20% of the senators were women. The Republicans will maintain control of the House of Representatives. Currently, the makeup is expected to be 235 Republicans and 200 Democrats, although the counts could change because of recounts and provisional ballots still being counted in various races. There will be at least 80 new members. This means that 50% of the congressmen will have less than six years of service.
