Cargill Animal Nutrition is pleased to announce two new additions to its nutrition and innovation teams. Wesley Schweer joins Cargill as a swine nutritionist and Megan Nelson joins as a research coordinator.

"We are glad to add Wesley and Megan, two great talents, to our team and bring new insights and capabilities to serve our customers and the pork industry," said Brent Frederick, pork technical services and innovation director, Cargill Animal Nutrition. "They both have a strong background in research which will help us continue to innovate and bring new solutions to pork producers."

Schweer grew up around pigs, and his interest and passion in helping raise pigs snowballed from there. He received his doctorate, master's and bachelor's degrees in animal science from Iowa State University where he also spent time as a graduate research assistant. During his doctoral studies, Schweer researched different feeding programs for health-challenged pigs. He joins Cargill after spending the past five years as a research nutritionist with Zinpro. He brings a wealth of industry knowledge and a deep commitment to producer success with him.

"I'm excited to join the Cargill team and help provide relevant and impactful solutions that meet our customers' needs," said Schweer. "I want to support producers in understanding and utilizing nutrition solutions to support the health and productivity of pigs, especially those health-challenged flows."

Megan Nelson is a recent graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During her time studying for her master's and bachelor's degrees there, Nelson spent six years focusing on swine research, including time working at the Illinois Swine Research Center and as both a graduate and undergraduate research assistant. Nelson didn't grow up in the swine industry but has found a home within it because of the passion of the people.

"My favorite thing about working in the pork industry is the people and their dedication to the animals," shared Nelson. "I look forward to working with the Cargill team and our customers to support research trials and new innovations that will have a profound impact on the performance of pigs."
