Financing agricultural exports to Cuba

Financing agricultural exports to Cuba

Sens. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) and John Boozman (R-AR) have introduced the “Agricultural Export Expansion Act” which would allow banks to finance U.S. agricultural exports to Cuba. Current law prohibits banks from providing lines of credit for agricultural exports to Cuba.

The legislation would lift the ban that prohibits private banks and companies from offering credit for agricultural exports, and would help open the Cuban market to U.S. agriculture.
