'Captain' claims Big Boar title at Iowa State Fair

The Big Boar, along with the Big Ram and Super Bull, will be on display at the Iowa State Fair in the Swine, Sheep and Cattle Barns respectively, through the end of the Fair.

“Captain,” the 3 1/2-year-old Crossbred bested the competition to claim the Big Boar title at the 2019 Iowa State Fair, weighing 1,254 pounds. The winning entry is owned by Bryan and Tricia Britt of Monticello.

Second place was claimed by “Brutus,” a 3 1/2-year-old Crossbred weighing 1,188 pounds and owned by Marv Reitema of Sioux Center. “Slim,” the 6-year-old Crossbred owned by Laurie Farms of Indianola earned third place weighing in at 1,170 pounds.
