Max Armstrong talks about three-state car chase. (audio)

It was a harrowing chase past farm fields in three states. A man stole a van with his two-year-old daughter inside from Milwaukee and fled south. He was stopped in Decatur, Ill. He turned up in Watseka, Ill., and was stopped near Lafayette, Ind. Suspect is in Indianapolis hospital. His daughter only had minor scratches. The chase stretched over 425 miles.

Also from the police blotter. A man from Parker, Colorado, returned home to find teens had invaded his home. They thought it was unoccupied because it had a for sale sign in the yard.

One Indiana grain elevator operator said 59-60 bushel soybeans are crossing scale at his place.

Some county authorities say those roadside memorials have become a hazard. Instead, in Lancaster County, Neb., they will allow highway signs in memory of deceased. They will be erected for $100 and carry safety message.
