Phibro Animal Health has completed a new, dedicated manufacturing operation to produce the active ingredient in Mecadox, an antimicrobial that has been incorporated into swine health management programs for more than 45 years. The increased production of the Mecadox medicated feed additive will ensure the product is accessible for swine dysentery and Salmonella challenges.

This substantial investment is part of Phibro’s commitment to ensure the long-term availability of the product. Manufacturing is now fully operational, producing the same trusted product that has also demonstrated effectiveness in increased rate of weight gain and improved feed efficiency.

According to the company announcement, Mecadox aims to provide safe and effective control of enteric pathogens, including Brachyspira hyodysenteriae, a cause of swine dysentery, and Salmonella choleraesuis, a cause of salmonellosis. Mecadox does not require Veterinary Feed Directive for use.

Phibro Animal Health Corporation is a diversified global developer, manufacturer and marketer of a broad range of animal health and mineral nutrition products for livestock, helping veterinarians and farmers produce healthy, affordable food while using fewer natural resources.
