Ohio ag professionals came together to donate more than 5,000 pounds of ground pork to those in need earlier this month.

As Farm Credit Mid-America's swine leaders prepared for a webinar focused on the significant challenges facing the pork industry, they decided that they also wanted to support both pork producers and families in need.

Along with several partners, including the Ohio Farm Bureau, Ohio Pork Council's Pork Power Program, Dennis Taylor Agency, Dustin Burgess Insurance Group and Kim Davis Agency, FCMA was able to donate 5,160 pounds of ground pork to the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank, providing 4,500 meals for community members facing food insecurity.

"The swine industry has faced some significant challenges. While we can't influence the macro-conditions of the hog markets, Farm Credit Mid-America can show support and empathy for the farmers we serve. It's a part of our corporate compass, and just one more way we can demonstrate the value of agriculture," says Jess Campbell, vice president Food and Agribusiness Swine, FCMA.
