Antibiotics: How'd we get here and where do we go?

Antibiotic use on U.S. livestock farms is going to change due consumer perceptions of mis- or overuse, as well as because of the continued growth of antibiotic resistance.

How did we get to this point, and where do we go from here? Will livestock producers have to say goodbye to all antibiotics in their operations? The short answer is, no. Animal health experts agree that complete removal of antibiotics would create negative animal welfare issues.
