Is porcine circovirus 3 an emerging disease? What role is PCV3 playing in the disease complex on my farm? Both are common questions in the swine industry today, and Bailey Arruda, a pathologist from Iowa State University’s Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, will give her diagnostic perspective during a 1 p.m. May 9 webinar.

During this one-hour video webinar “PCV3 — An Emerging Disease?”, Arruda will discuss what is being seen in the field as well as the potential impact to producers, veterinarians and industry.

This webinar, sponsored by Merck Animal Health and presented by National Hog Farmer, is part of the Science Talks. webinar series. Also to be covered:

  • Key findings of PCV3’s role in disease in sow reproduction, piglets and growing pigs.

  • Classification of PCV3 as an emerging disease

  • Current diagnostic capabilities as well as future opportunities

  • Application of our industry’s PCV2 knowledge and how we can apply it to PCV3

Arruda is a diagnostic pathologist at the ISU VDL. Her interests include infectious diseases of swine.
