The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee passed legislation to reauthorize the Animal Drug User Fee Act and Animal Generic Drug User Fee Act.

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee passed legislation to reauthorize the Animal Drug User Fee Act and Animal Generic Drug User Fee Act. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), ranking member of the committee, said “These programs have reduced the average waiting time for the FDA to approve generic animal drugs by 450 days and eliminated a backlog of applications, meaning farmers get faster access to cheaper and better medicines, and people are healthier.”  Senators Alexander and Tom Harkin (D-IA), chairman of the committee, have worked in a very bipartisan effort on this legislation.  The bill now goes to the floor for consideration.
