Pig Anatomy

The poster of the anatomy of the pig is provided as an educational resource for pork producers. It is intended to portray the general location and appearance of key organs in a normal pig. Be aware that the color and even the shape of organs can vary to a certain point, even in normal, healthy pigs. Producers may choose to refer to this poster while consulting with their veterinarian regarding health issues, or simply to satisfy their curiosity about the locations and functions of the various organs in the pig. The full body photo in the center of the poster shows the normal position of the organs. The organs and cross-sections around the perimeter of the poster are displayed to provide a better perspective of organs partially or totally hidden in the full body display. Your veterinarian can explain the purpose and function of each organ and how various diseases affect them. Organs are labeled in English and Spanish, with the later presented in red.
