Operation Christmas Meal was back in full force this December with 13 different pork loin giveaways thanks to the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation.

From the kick-off at the Iowa State Fairgrounds to the final stop in Algona, Iowa Select Farms employees handed out 18,500 pork loins. In total, 92,500 pounds, or 370,000 portions, of nutritious protein was donated to those who might not otherwise have the means for a holiday meal.

This year, over 260 Iowa Select Farms employees jumped in to help run the events, a record turnout.

Operation Christmas Meal's Ignite the Spirit program also saw a record turnout with 50 4-H clubs and FFA chapters participating. The program challenges these young ag leaders to take two cases of pork loins and $250 and do good, locally. Several shared stories of meal kit projects and community suppers across the state.

Be sure to check out the video below and the Iowa Select Farms Facebook page to see all of the Ignite the Spirit stories and much more from the 2021 Operation Christmas Meal adventure.
