The Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA) launched this week a four-week video series to fill the void of no in-person pork expo this month.

IPPA members will receive an e-blast each Wednesday of February announcing the video of the week. The videos will also be available on ilpork.com for others in the agriculture industry who are interested in watching the recordings. They can be found under the 2021 IL Pork Expo tab.

This week will feature National Pork Board updates on animal health and the new AgView platform from CEO Bill Even and Chief Veterinarian Dr. David Pyburn.

Guest speaker for week two is Steve Matthis, training director at Prestage Farms, sharing “Ins and Outs of Barn Maintenance” – how to make your job easier as a pig farmer. This video will be available beginning Feb. 10.

Dustin Baker of Commodity and Ingredient Hedging (CIH) will provide a market update on Feb. 17. Dustin is very familiar with the pork industry and now helps market participants gain a better understanding of agricultural margin management concepts and strategies.

Rounding out the 2021 IL Pork Expo video series will be a discussion exclusive to National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) and Strategic Investment Program (SIP) members. Guests Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-IL), Andrew Fisher of NPPC and Karla Thieman of the Russell Group will examine the current political environment as it relates to agriculture and the Biden administration.

You need not be an IPPA member to participate in the first three videos of the series. Visit ilpork.com to watch the content after their respective launch dates.

IPPA will also host a virtual Annual Meeting on Feb. 9 to manage delegate business.
