Sam Carney, a pork producer from Adair, IA, was named president-elect of the National Pork Producers Council during the NPPC’s annual business meeting in Dallas, TX, held March 5-7.
Carney Farms Inc. markets about 6,000 hogs annually from their wean-feeder to finish operation. Carney and his son, Randy, also raise corn, soybeans and hay.
Carney has served in various pork industry leadership positions over the last 20 years, including president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association. He is a member of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association and the Iowa Soybean Association. He also has served on his local school board, Farm Service Agency board and county extension council.
“Sam has been a long-time leader in the U.S. pork industry and brings that leadership and knowledge of pork industry issues to his new position as president-elect,” stated NPPC CEO Neil Dierks.
