Swine Nutrition Guide Regional Training Conferences Scheduled

The National Swine Nutrition Guide (NSNG) will be distributed and discussed at regional conferences next month.

Sessions will be held March 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Owatonna, MN, and March 17 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Des Moines, following the Midwest American Society of Animal Science (ASAS) meetings.

The guide, funded in part by a United Soybean Board grant, was developed by land grant universities, agribusinesses and the U.S. Pork Center of Excellence.

The NSNG includes nutrition fact sheets, nutrient recommendation tables and diet formulation and evaluation software. Purchase price is $80 with a training conference registration or $125 separately.

The training sessions will focus on the use and application of the guide and include a hands-on demonstration of the diet formulation and evaluation software program.

“This development effort has been a great collaboration between the U.S. Pork Center of Excellence, several extension nutritionists and all the major feed companies. The result is a reference book and software that will be of great value to the industry for years to come,” says David Meisinger, director of the U.S. Pork Center of Excellence.
