The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has issued a revised standards for testing solids-mixing equipment for animal feeds.
The revised standard, ASABE S303.4 SEP2007, Test Procedure for Solids-Mixing Equipment for Animal Feeds, specifically references the use of colored iron particles or colored iron powder to use as tracers in place of salt, which presents limitations in validating mixer performance.
The revision allows U.S. and Canadian feed manufacturers to satisfy both domestic regulatory and non-regulatory testing requirements, as well as trading partners in Europe.
