Volatile Markets and Disease Control
For Ted Frank, Dexter, Minn., the World Pork Expo has been on his calendar seven of the last 10 years. This year he brought along his daughters, Rachel (left) and Molly, and they walked the show floor. Frank was also in Des Moines for some software training with a supplier, which he says was pretty in-depth. For his operation - beyond PEDV - there's the worry of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) - but he thinks there's been some progress in his area on that. Beyond the disease control/prevention focus, he notes that rising market volatility is on his mind for his farrow-to-finish business.
