The Iowa Premium Pork Company (IPPC) has secured over $2.3 million in investments from 115 independent Iowa pork producers for IPPC’s LeMars (IA) Project.
IPPC will invest the funds in its subsidiary, Majestic Food Group. Majestic will equip a closed beef processing plant in LeMars this summer and remodel it for pork processing. Production will start in October.
Iowa pork producers have until Sept. 30 to invest in the project. Details of the investment and project can be viewed at www.majesticfoodgroup.com.
Majestic plans on processing the meat from 1,100 hogs/day at the LeMars plant by the end of 2004. Most of the hogs will be provided by investors.
Majestic plans to sell fresh pork products using its own sales staff. Plans are to expand into smoked and cooked meat in the future. For more information, contact Majestic CEO Marston McGwin at (877) 572-7675.
