The 2022 NAPRRS/NC229: International Conference of Swine Viral Diseases will be held Dec. 2-4 at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile in Chicago. Organizers say the conference, formerly known as the North American PRRS Symposium, promises to deliver an informative and scientifically rewarding experience this year.

The North American PRRS Symposium was formed in 2003 as  as a venue to annually bring together the members of the swine disease community, including researchers, industry professionals and field practitioners. At that time, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome was considered the prime example of the challenges faced by global swine industry.

In recent years, the emergence and spread of new swine viruses, such as porcine epidemic diarrhea virus and African swine fever virus, has expanded the focus to include emerging and transboundary swine diseases. Integration with the USDA NC229 multi-state project on swine diseases provides the means to deliver a much larger and more comprehensive meeting experience. The 2022 meeting will also be expanded into a three-day international conference with emphasis in translational research.

Payment must be provided at the time of registration to guarantee enrollment. Early registration is recommended. All prices are in U.S. dollars.

The early deadline to submit an abstract for oral consideration is July 22, with Sept. 30 the extended abstract submission deadline. The late breaking abstract submission deadline for posters only is Oct. 21.

Travel fellowship applications are open to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Limited hotel rooms are available so attendees are encouraged to make reservations early. Rooms reserved through the room block will receive additional benefits. Registration deadline is Nov. 10.
