Illinois Pork Expo Feb. 1-2, 2011 at the Peoria Civic Center features a PAC silent auction, leadership training, animal disease outbreak training, reception and auction and banquet on Feb. 1.
On Feb. 2, producers can attend a purebred swine and show pig symposium in the morning and/or commercial production seminars throughout the day that cover reducing feed costs, alternative castration techniques, pit foaming, PRRS elimination and market outlook and risk management.
Other seminars look at USDA’s proposed livestock marketing rule, animal rights undercover videos and lessons learned from consumer research and strategies to improve the image of Illinois farmers.
Also at the convention, staff from the University of Illinois Research and Extension Information Center will be on hand to present information on reproduction, feeding/nutrition and manure management.
