Premium Standard Farms’ (PSF) pork processing facility in Milan, MO, has been recognized as "Food Plant of the Year" by Refrigerated and Frozen Foods magazine.
PSF was honored for the company’s exceptional record for food safety and worker safety. For the third consecutive year, employees at the Milan facility recorded over one million hours without a lost-time accident.
The company also received consideration for its innovation. PSF was the first pork company to implement a Process Verified Program, in which company quality and safety practices are verified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The company was also the first in the U.S. to use carbon dioxide anesthetizing prior to slaughter.
