An individual market hog show has been added to the schedule of the 57th annual National Barrow Show (NBS), Sept. 8-10 at the Mower County Fairgrounds in Austin, MN.
Participants from 25 states are expected to exhibit the best of the eight major swine breeds: Berkshire, Chester White, Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Poland China, Spotted and Yorkshire. This event is sponsored by the National Association of Swine Records, which represents all eight breeds.
Purebred and crossbred barrows and gilts will compete for $500 grand champion barrow and $500 grand champion gilt premiums in the NBS Terminal Market Hog Show at 1 p.m. Sept. 8.
Another NBS highlight is the collegiate judging contest which takes place Sept. 8.
