The first Midwest Pork Conference will be Sept. 6-7 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis, IN.
The conference is sponsored by the Indiana Pork Producers Association (IPPA), along with the Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio pork groups.
With World Pork Expo being cancelled this year, the conference provides a chance for pork producers to come together and learn from each other, remarks show manager Sherrill Rude.
A trade show features more than 250 exhibitors. There are five professional development educational tracks covering large integrated systems, differentiating your operation, diversification for contract growers, business management, employee skills and a look at the retail/foodservice trade.
Sept. 6 is "Production Technology Day" featuring talks on facility management, production options, new production ideas, employees, finance, nutrition, contracts and production liabilities.
"Marketing for Profitability" Sept. 7 covers maximizing opportunities, marketing manure, successful marketing ventures, mandatory price reporting, packer profiles, niche marketing and food safety issues.
Early registration is $75 (before July 31) and $100 at the show. Contact IPPA for more information, 800-535-2405 or after June 15 visit www.inpork.org.
