The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is establishing mandatory minimum standards for producers operating a USDA-certified or verified program with marketing claims.
Currently, AMS verifies the accuracy of these claims through its voluntary certification and auditing programs.
The proposed U.S. Standards for Livestock and Meat Marketing Claims was published in the Dec. 30, 2002 Federal Register (click on Edocket.access.gov).
