Pork producer Donna Reifschneider of Smithton, IL, has been appointed administrator of USDA’s Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA).
The announcement was made April 2 by Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman.
Reifschneider has served since 1999 as an executive committee member of the U.S. Meat Export Federation. She served as president of the National Pork Producers Council from 1998 to 1999.
She also serves on the governor’s Illinois Commission on Animal Agriculture, the University of Illinois Blue Ribbon Task Force on Extension and the Illinois Agriculture Leadership Program.
Reifschneider and her husband Jim have a 600-sow, farrow-to-wean operation and 1,000 acres of land.
