A member of the University of Illinois faculty since 1976, Robert Easter has been appointed the 12th dean of the school’s College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.
Easter has served as interim dean for several months. Before that, he served as head of the Department of Animal Sciences.
Easter’s research focused on swine nutrition. He co-authored the Chinese Pork Industry Handbook, authored or co-authored chapters in 11 books and was lead or co-author for 82 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Animal Management Recognized
John J. McGlone, animal science professor at Texas Tech University, was presented the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS) Animal Management award during the ASAS annual meeting in Quebec City, Quebec.
McGlone joined the Texas Tech staff in 1989, where he founded research, teaching and outreach programs in livestock etiology, husbandry and production with a focus on pigs.
He actively supports Texas pork production and serves as a consultant to the National Pork Board on animal welfare issues.
