The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF), a newly formed group designed to help farmers grow, says a recent rally by an Iowa activist group doesn’t support growth of Iowa’s rural communities and farm families.
A June 26 demonstration by Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (ICCI) was an attempt to harass and intimidate animal agriculture, an industry that employs 137,000 Iowans, generates $477 million in local and state taxes and stimulates $5 billion in economic activity, according to CSIF.
CSIF plans to continue monitoring ICCI activities, track their sources of funding and evaluate the organizations they associate with.
CSIF was launched May 11, 2004. Membership includes the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Farm Bureau, Iowa Pork Producers Association, Iowa Poultry Association and Iowa Soybean Association.
