The Ohio Pork Council has presented Cy Prettyman with the 2017 Ohio Pork Industry Service Award. Each year, the Ohio Pork Council presents the award to an individual who exemplifies outstanding service to the swine industry. This individual supports the pork industry and exceeds volunteer expectations.

“Cy continually contributes his time, knowledge and ideas to the betterment of the pork industry,” says Dan Moran, senior swine marketing director with Purina Animal Nutrition.

Prettyman has devoted countless hours serving agricultural organizations across Ohio, including the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, Marion County Pork Producers, Ohio Pork Council and the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board. Currently, he serves on the Ohio Farm Bureau Board of Trustees and is the board treasurer and organization committee vice chair. In addition, Prettyman serves on the Ohio Pork Council’s Events Committee and serves as OPC’s tradeshow chair. Prettyman is active with the Marion County Pork Producers, volunteering at the Marion County Fair and the Ohio State Fair.

Prettyman earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from The Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, he worked at the Ohio Swine Evaluation Station. He began his professional career in 1990 with Isler Genetics in Prospect, Ohio. Today, Prettyman works as a sales specialist for Purina Animal Nutrition serving livestock producers throughout Ohio. He is also the managing partner at his family’s farm, Prettyman Farms in Marion County, where he lives with his wife, Julie.
