"Hannah's personal experience in 4-H and her marketing experience will help IPPA identify paths to reach out and tell the pork story to young people, as well as consumers," says Pat McGonegle, IPPA chief executive officer. "We look forward to bringing her social media strategy experiences to life as she expands our impact on sharing information about pork and Iowa's pig farmers."

"I feel strongly about helping others learn about pork and pig farming," Spurr says. "I'm especially excited about working with youth education because you are never too young to learn something new!"

Most recently, Spurr worked for the Greater Des Moines Partnership as the project coordinator for Operation Downtown, where she focused on making a welcoming environment in Iowa's capitol city. She also managed a variety of events, especially at the Brenton Skating Plaza, and assisted with implementing social media strategy for those events. Before that, she worked as the marketing and promotions coordinator for Prairie Meadows.

Spurr, who grew up on a crop and cattle farm near Norwalk, graduated from Iowa State University with an event management degree in 2017.
