House ag committee completes USDA review

The U.S. House Agriculture Committee held two days of hearings to review USDA’s organization and program administration. The committee heard from the various undersecretaries, administrators and other USDA officials on each mission area’s purpose and goals, programs administered and annual budget.

Committee chairman, Congressman Mike Conaway (R-TX) said, “It is our responsibility as committee members to work in tandem with USDA, advocating on behalf of American consumers and producers. It is also our responsibility to provide rigorous oversight of USDA activities.” The hearings were very educational and informative for the committee and the public.
