CRP enrollment under way

The general enrollment period for the Conservation Reserve Program has started and will end on Feb. 26.

This month is the 30^th anniversary of CRP. A total of 24.2 million acres were enrolled in CRP as of September 2015. Contracts on 1.64 million acres of CRP will expire on Sept. 30, 2016. CRP assists producers with the cost of restoring, enhancing and protecting certain grasses, shrubs and trees to improve water quality, prevent soil erosion and reduce loss of wildlife habitat.
