The House Agriculture subcommittee on Livestock and Foreign Agriculture will hold a hearing March 25 on country-of-origin labeling. The hearing is to examine the implications of potential retaliatory measures taken against the United States in response to COOL requirements.Â
The House and Senate will consider the fiscal year 2016 budget as passed by the House and Senate Budget Committees. The budgets propose $1 billion in cuts for agriculture. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) has said he will offer amendments concerning crop insurance. He has been a major critic of the program. If the budget passes it would be the responsibility of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees to determine what programs would be cut.Â
