A graduate student studying feeding strategies for improved piglet performance has been selected as a regional finalist in the 2019 Alltech Young Scientist competition, the world’s largest agriscience competition for university students. Anouschka Middelkoop, Wageningen University, the Netherlands, will present her paper, “Lactational feed intake level of the sow and creep feed presentation strategy affect piglet performance” during ONE: The Alltech Ideas Conference, May 19–21 in Lexington, Ky.

Middlekoop along with three other regional finalists from colleges and universities around the world will compete at the highest level for a chance to win $10,000 and gain access to innovative scientists from around the world. Now in its 14th year, this year's competition received entrants from 120 universities and 40 countries.

The students will present their research to a panel of international judges and will also participate in leadership building, career mentorship and networking opportunities during the all-expenses-paid AYS Discovery Week, which will be held in conjunction with ONE19.
