The Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium has funded three more pilot projects on animal identification (ID).
In all, the consortium has funded 14 projects totaling about $380,000.
The three new projects include:
-
A market swine transportation study by the Wisconsin Pork Association to determine the best means to report data from farm to slaughter, define data elements for reporting and produce an educational white paper on marketing activities.
-
A large-scale beef cattle tracking project by the Smithfield Beef Group to learn the value of private databases for the national ID system, the value of recordkeeping to production systems and to identify problems with tracking animal movements between states.
-
An animal movement recording and reporting project for dairy animals headed to World Dairy Expo and the Dane County Fair, both held at Madison, WI.
